Artist Statement
Our historical heritage is mortal and vulnerable to destruction. In this collection, I have depicted worn-out tiles from the Qajar and Safavid eras — small, solitary soldiers that embody the vitality of an ancient civilization.
These works illustrate a struggle between the death instinct and the desire for life. In the fractures of the forms, destruction and decay are present, yet the beauty of life continues to dance. This collection expresses a deep lament for the loss of invaluable national heritage and reflects the intertwining of existence and non-existence.
